The “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Finale bows before “Avengers 4: Endgame”
Actually, the content of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” had moved away from the MCU and the “Avengers” films, but in the last two episodes of the Marvel series there was again a big bow to “Avengers: Endgame” …
In 2013 “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” started as a spin-off series from the biggest MCU success to date, “The Avengers”. In the first seasons, therefore, clear reference was made to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – starting with the main character Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), through guest appearances, to links with the events of “Thor 2” or “The Return Of The First Avenger” .
In later seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., however, the series increasingly stood on its own two feet – not a bad idea, since the MCU films ignored the series events anyway and the series makers could thus take more creative freedom.
In the season finale broadcast on August 12, 2020, however, they turned back the bow and bowed to “Avengers 4: Endgame”, which in 2019 brought the first 11 years and 22 films of the MCU to a bombastic conclusion. Although there were still references here and there to the Marvel movies in the previous seasons, this is quite surprising.
Time travel like in “Avengers 4”
At the end of the first episode of the two-episode finale of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) suddenly appears again, who was hardly seen in the seventh and final season until then.
And Fitz has a surprising revelation for his fellow S.H.I.E.L.D .: Coulson, May (Ming-Na Wen), Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Co. acted in an alternate timeline throughout the season.

Anyone who has seen “Avengers 4: Endgame” knows that, as in the final season “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”, it is about time travel across the decades, but the central element of parallel timelines has been missing so far Fmovies. In “Endgame” the heroes create such timelines by removing the Infinity Stones from their ancestral times.
Fitz also shows his colleagues how they can all return to their actual timeline with the help of the quantum realm. In “Avengers 4”, too, time travel took place with the help of the quantum level and the Pym particles.
